Happy Christmas Eve! I don't remember if I shared this pub when it came out, but it was in my draft folders, and I thought it was appropriate for a night before Christmas post.

Busy Bonjour // Throwback Thursday

I hardly ever use ribbon these days - I wonder if it's just because that "trend" has faded for me, or I just went so overboard with it those couple years that my mojo is still recovering. ;)

Just wanted to put a bunch of random things together, and this is what I came up - an unusual color combo for me, which was fun.

Love this shade of ribbon - it looks so light and fluffy and skylike.

Thought it would be fun to stick in some vellum clouds, just because they're cute.

And then a random sticker tab, just because.

Border Die Cut // Throwback Thursday

Starting November off with a throwback card!

So it's not the most ingenious use, or most pretty card example using the set, but it was still fun, mixing and matching - made me feel like a full-fledged stamper. ;)

I used gems from a ton of different packages to switch things up.

For the bottom of the stamped panel, I used my Spellbinders Labels 4 die (which I used to be obsessed with - ah, the good old days), inverting the die to get that particular angle.

Purple stuff

Purple really isn't my favorite color to make cards with, but I decided to use up some purple seam binding I had.
This photo is actually about a year old - back in the olden days when I used to tie bows on every. single. card.

I couldn't find a stamp sentiment that I liked for this card, so I just typed one out - it was coming out wonky at first, which annoyed me, then I figured it could work with the rest of the shabby card. ;)

Edges distressed with back of scissors (so I won't dull the blades or cut myself)

Tried a double bow mix with silk and seam binding...still debating on whether I like it or not...

So this post (and several of my past ones) are me trying to be more regular about my posting, like I said in my New Year's post. Hopefully I can work on the commenting part of the 'resolution' over the weekend - till then, have a great day!

Project Thursday {scattered journey}

I'm over at the Precious Remembrance blog today, sharing a fun collage-y style card using the new Journey stamp set along with Positive Thoughts.

I stuffed the mini glassine bag with sequins, than added some more outside of it - I'm just gonna say the scatteredness of it all just completes the sentiment. ;)
The cute film strip stamp provides a nice backdrop for all the craziness, and the little ink splatter image from Positive Thoughts adds a little more neutral. ;)
Oh, and in case some of you were wondering what you would use this sentiment/card for (as I wondered at first), I realized it is a perfect card for grads!

Project Thursday {sequin bird}

First off, I have to apologize for the poor pictures - my camera simply cannot pick up black, apparently!

Moving on...
I used the Positive Thoughts and Little One stamp sets in this card, in a very simple way, but bold way.

This second picture shows the brightness of the bird a bit better...

I used the chic chevron pattern from the Little One stamp set to make a subtle 'bird tracks' background.

Hey You!

There are many funky and sweet patterns in the Pure Bliss collection, perfect for bright and cheery projects, to soft and simple cards. I decided to go with the soft and soothing combo for this card, using Ikat, Blooming, and, of course, a Happy Hoop.

I can't tell how much I love these adorable hoops!

Don't be afraid to step outside your comfort zone and make something new with Pure Bliss, whether it be clean and simple, shabby and elegant, bright and fiery, or, soft and soothing! :)

Papertrey April Blog Hop Challenge

     This is my second post today - if you're looking for my Precious Remembrance Project Thursday post, just scroll down! :)
     I'm giving the Papertrey Ink blog hop challenge a go again, and here's this month's challenge...

     I have to say, I struggled at first. Do you ever have that experience where you're making a card using a certain technique, and a card you made long ago using that same technique comes back to haunt you? I don't know if that makes sense to you, but that's what I was feeling. I kept trying to tilt my card, but it kept looking like the evil twin of this card I made a year or two ago that had left me with a bitter taste in my mojo-mouth.
     But anyways, I got over it, as you can see...

     For some reason, my camera just doesn't catch navy well - it keeps looking kinda funky in the photos, when it looks so much more hip in real life. ;)

     I'm glad this one turned out decently, because I spend a good chunk of time stamping those flowers (even those I was using the pre-arranged clusters from the stamp set) when I should've been studying, so I would've been pretty annoyed if came out crummy. ;)

     Anyways, I gotta peace out and study (SUMMER IS OFFICIALLY TWO WEEKS AWAY!), so God bless and thanks for stopping in!

Project Thursday {Flower Tag}

      I'm not gonna lie - I was feeling the pressure to make a project using the flower from Mom and Dad set after seeing the rest of the Precious Remembrance design teams amazing projects using it.
     While I don't know if I'm quite up to par with them, I will admit this project is probably my favorite I've made for this blog so far. The top reason being, how many goodies I was able to stick on one tag, and the three different techniques I used here.
     First, the tag...

      So the first technique; the leaves. I got the adorable wood veneer leaves from Michaels, and smeared them with some pigment ink. To keep the ink from smearing, I coated the leaves with clear embossing powder, which gave them a nice, yummy shine.

And the last two techniques...
      For the flower itself, I used the rock-n-roll stamp technique (which is new to me) on vellum, and to keep the ink from smearing, again, I used clear embossing powder. It gives such a nice, translucent look to the vellum.
      Secondly, those little yellow dots. They were originally cheap, stark white adhesive pearls that didn't match with anything. However, I picked up some cheap nail polish at Walmart, covered them, let them dry, and then stuck them here! Isn't it fun? It kinda gives that look I've been seeing from the enamel dots that are so popular now, except you can customize your dots!

    I'll be posting a video of how I did the leaves, flower and gems later on the blog, so be on the lookout for that! ;)

So that's why this project is my fave - what do you think? I'm thinking I might tie this around some kind of  floral gift for my mom, who just loves planting. :)

Hello

I'm here today with my second attempt at Craft Dash's challenge #15 - the first one didn't make the time cut. ;)

I was pretty excited about this color combo - something about that navy in there just spices things up a bit, don't ya think?

And then there's this cool Tuesday Trigger photo for additional color inspiration...

...and now the card that took me 9 minutes and 42 seconds to make...

For some reason, the flower looks peachy in the photograph, which is odd, because I haven't noticed my camera having problems picking up certain colors before. It's actually a nice shabby pink, in real life - the video (below) seems to pick up on this better.

And guess what? I actually edited and uploaded the video 'documenting' this process  - it makes me so happy, because I haven't been able to edit my videos on Picasa since getting my current camera a year and a half ago. I tried Googling my problems, but it was just such a mess, I gave up. So I just recently tried Windows Movie Maker and that seems to be the trick! Plus, for some reason, the edited video uploads way faster on YouTube than the unedited version - weird, right? Anyway, here it is, with minimal editing since I didn't want to spend a lot of time on something that might not work;

Dancing to the Charleston

"Charleston, and Charleston. Charleston, and Charleston..." went a swing dance teacher last summer, so while I was making my card using Diane Kappa's new Charleston collection, I couldn't help hearing that play in my mind. ;)

I used many of the elegant patterns to create another pattern of circles to provide the backdrop for this beautiful flower...

Maybe next time you look or play around with this line, you'll have something similar dancing around in your mind. ;)

A True Friend

There's something so unique, and, well, special about Special Delivery. So many fun patterns and elements - what's not to love?

While this line works well for pretty much any occasion, I decided to make a sweet friendship card...

Popped up some of the triangles for a little more interest. :)

Spring cleaning

...my life. ;)
It's crazy how much stuff I need to clean and work on right now, and one of those things I need to get done is get the winner for the Throwback Tuesday posts! And that winner is...

Today, I'll be working up on scheduling lots of Throwback Tuesday posts so I don't get behind, like this past time. ;)
Also, a card I made for this months Hero Arts contest...

People, there is NO patterned paper on this card! Can you believe it, coming from this patterned paper loving girl?!
The feather design was super fun (though a little time consuming) to make - I stamped the feather (it's a single image) once on the watercolor cardstock with Versamark, then covered it with some embossing powder, then repeated about a bazillion times. The reason for stopping after each stamping to cover with powder was because I couldn't see my last impression without the powder, and I didn't want any overlapping.
Topped off with an embossed sentiment (I was in a little bit of an embossing craze ;)) and some pearls.

The card is much prettier in real life, where you can see the colors better.

Sweet Valentine

Hey yinz! Popping in to share a quick project before Lents begins - Internet is something I'll be giving up, so, though you don't see me much right now anyways, I can guarantee my virtual absence on all days except Saturday nights, Sunday's, and special feast days (such as St. Joseph!). Scheduled posts are all you'll be getting from me for awhile! ;)
Now, on to that quick project I promised you...

Some wee hearts from a Precious Remembrance stamp set on a Hero Arts kraft jar tag...I never realized how pretty orange, pink, white and kraft went together before...

Something I made for the current Craft Dash challenge and for my sister on Valentine's day. Time? I think about 9 minutes and 38 seconds, though I'm not positive because my timer went off shortly before I finished the project. Definitely under ten minutes though. ;)

Project Thursday {Mini Series Week Two}

Clare here for week two of the Mini Series (see first post HERE)!
Today, a mini envelope project! Sometimes these are the most fun mini projects to make, because both the outside and inside look so pretty!

Using the adorable Thanks stamp set, I stamped the envelope with the cute border (I just love the Precious Remembrance borders!) and tied it off with a ribbon and a button.
Inside..

A mini card! I had a lot of fun mixing up the stamps on this one! :)

This little set is so quick and easy to make - counting out my little blank-out period (where I just sit and stare at the desk for no reason), it probably took fifteen minutes!

Project Thursday {Mini Series Week One}

Hi there! Are you ready to join me on a mini series all about mini projects? Awesome! For the next three weeks at least, I'll be showing you some quick, mini projects that are perfect for cheering up a loved one's day!
Up first, a mini card using the adorable checklist stamp from the 'Thanks' stamp set...

This mini card stands at ???, but sure packs a punch! I thought a mini clothespin fit the occasion perfectly, and so I used it to pin down the ribbon and twine.

I decided to check the middle box, but you could certainly use all three! For the tape, I went over some cheap white masking tape with a marker to get my custom color. A fun substitute for washi tape!

Well, that about finishes up my first post in the mini series - what do you think? I'd love to know your thoughts!

Project Thursday {Sunshine}

When I first saw the new Thanks stamp set, I knew right away I wanted to make a sunny card with the adorable "sunshine" sentiment. I just adore that font!
A smiley sun and a few die cut clouds later, I came up with this bright little number...

I told you that font was adorable!
