Hero Arts Winter 2016 Catalog Release Blog Hop

Welcome to the Hero Arts Winter 2016 Catalog release blog hop! (whew, that was a mouthful!) Thank you so very much for stopping in today! The new products have been shipping to retailers for a few weeks now, so you may have seen them out and about, but today's hop marks the launch in the Hero Arts online store.

There are so many lovely goodies in the catalog, and today I chose to play with the Peace Stamp and Cut and Holiday Floral Bold Prints.

I just love how delicate the Holiday Floral Bold Prints looks heat embossed! First off is the classic Christmas red...

I embossed the background in white on some gray cardstock, then added a little color with a red ZIG pen. I then die cut my sentiment from some red velvet ribbon shtuff - I'm not really sure where it came from (my mom had it in her Christmas supply stash), but it's the same material used to make the rather cheapy velvet bows, so you could just get one of those to achieve the same look (I also have some similar supplies linked below).
It gives nice, soft, fuzzy feel. ;)

I finished the card off with a heat embossed sentiment on vellum.

For a more wintery feel, I wanted to show you three different variations of the background stamped, because this stamp is really so versatile and beautiful.

It's hard to tell in this photo, so here's the breakdown...

Card #1.
The background for this card stamped first in Versamark, then in Mint Julep, and then heat embossed with some Clear Sparkle embossing powder (I'm pretty much obsessed with this powder).

This card has the sparkle, color and heat embossed look.

Card #2.

This card was stamped simply with Mint Julep.

This card has just the color - no heat embossing or sparkle.

And card #3.
This card was stamped with Versamark and then heat embossed with the Clear Sparkle embossing powder.

This card is more subtle than card #1, as it doesn't have the color from the Mint Julep.

Updated For Sale

Hello all! I know I've been pretty scarce around here, but that's because I'm moving to a new house this week, and I've been busy preparing for it and cleaning out my room.
In the process of cleaning out my room, I've updated my For Sale page, and added two additional notes, namely that;
As of 8/13/16, I will be adding brand new Hero Arts stamps to random packages, such as woodblock stamps or a used limited edition My Monthly Hero stamp set. This is so that these stamps can feel the love from another crafter, as they're being sadly neglected by me. ;)
Also, since I am getting anxious to move these stamps on to new homes, I will be taking 5% off the total (not including shipping) of every order.
So basically, you'll be getting more stamps for less. ;)

August My Monthly Hero blog hop

Hello all! Today I'm participating in the August My Monthly Hero release blog hop! This month's kit is so unique and definitely one of my favorites!

For my card today, I used the stamps from both the main kit and the add on, as well as dies from the main kit and add-on.

To start the card of, I blended a background of Squeezed Lemonade, Scattered Straw, Tumbled Glass and Chipped Sapphire to create a moonlit scene for my pixies. Then, like I did for my countdown card post, I inked up my pixies and sentiment (from the add-on, Dreams Are Made) in Versamark for stickiness, then Black ink, and stamped. The Versamark allowed me to cover the images and sentiment with clear Sparkle Embossing Powder and get a really lovely look.
Believe it or not, that's the most complicated part of this card - the dies make the rest a breeze!

I die cut black, navy, and teal-ish blue cardstock in the main and add-on dies, and then covered them with Versamark ink. Then I added more of that gorgeous Sparkle Embossing powder, heat embossed them, and layered them to create my scene!

You could add lots of dimension in between the layers like I did here with foam tape, or, for a more mail-friendly card, just use thin pieces of chipboard, or just adhere them directly on top of each other! Either way, these dies make the cool paper-cutting look super easy!

THE KIT

This month's kit was inspired by "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and features a gorgeous forest fairy theme. There are add-on stamps with Shakespeare quotes. The kit is jam-packed with goodies, with a value over $50, but selling for $34.99!
Here's what the kit looks like (more details over on the Hero Arts blog)

Remember, the kit is available for a limited time only - once it's gone, it's gone.
