Cheery Thanks // Hero Arts

I have one last bright and cheery card for June (I can't believe we're going into July already!!)

I was inspired by THIS pin, and I thought the You're So Lovely stamps would work perfectly with it. The front panel was pretty simple to make - lightly mist the watercolor cardstock with water, stamp the flowers in different colors (misting them slightly to achieve a messier look) and drying in between stamping, to prevent the colors from muddying.

Once I had dried my panel, I die cut the sentiment out using the Thank You die, and added it on to the card base using an adhesive foam sheet. I topped off the card with some pearls, and then decided I wanted to add a little extra oomph to sentiment, so I used my Wink of Stella pen to add some shimmer behind the die cut word. This would've been easier if I'd had the forethought to do it before adhering the panel down, but it still worked. :)

Thanks so much for stopping in and have a beautiful day!

Flamingo Dance // Hero Arts

I have a cheery card today! I finally got around to playing with the Color Layering Flamingo set, and it is SO fun!

I first stamped my background using the gorgeous Waves Background in Mint Julep on some mint layering paper, then made a little banner out of vellum and some white cardstock.
The sentiment is from the Happy Stamp and Cut set. I actually die cut the happy from black foam, instead of bothering with cutting multiple layers of black cardstock to achieve the same dimension. The nice thing is that the foam already had adhesive on the back, so I didn't have to bother trying to perfectly adhere a delicate die cut.

I used Soft Pink, Bubble Gum, and Ultra Pink for my flamingo, and Black for the legs...although apparently,  real flamingoes have more pinkish legs...;)

That's it for me today! Thanks for stopping in and God bless!

Truly Glad // Hero Arts

Hello! Long time, no see! I've been busy adjusting to my new full-time job, and finally got a chance to blog again!

This is a card using some more watercoloring and mountains and the fun Hero Arts Road Trip stamp set...

I used a similar watercoloring technique as in THIS video. These mountains would look so cool in all bunches of different colors, like the Northern Lights.

I hand lettered the greeting, but this card is actually the prototype - the nice, finished lettered card got an ink smudge (and this is why you always make sure to clean your fingers while crafting...) I will be posting a similar card on the Hero Arts blog in a couple days using a stamp, in case lettering isn't your things. ;) I also made two PNG files for you, if you'd like - let me know if you have any questions or you make anything with them, as I'd love to see. :)

Thanks so much for stopping in and God bless!

Hero Arts Color Layering Blog Hop

Howdy everyone! Today I'm part of a fun blog hop celebrating the release of the new Color Layering products in the Hero Arts online store!

Normally, I would make a video for the blog hop, but I've only recently gotten back from vacation and more recently come down with a little sore throat. I do have some pretty fun cards for you though!
First, if you're not familiar with color layering stamping, here's a little info on that...
Color Layering uses the technique of stamping progressively, building color and detail, resulting in an elegant, dimensional look. We've asked our talented group of artists to recommend their favorite colors to best highlight each Color Layering stamp set. The results have been developed into 4-cube ink packs, featuring the championing artist's name. While the inks were developed with a specific stamp set in mind, the packs offer wonderful and rich versatility; you'll find they work well with most any set and often produce stunning and unexpected results.
Isn't this so fun?! I fell in love with Let Love Grow as soon as I saw it, and just knew I had to use it for this new release - I hope you love it and my color choices as much as I do!

I'm not a purple kind of person. Or yellow. Not even when it comes to cards. But I wanted to find a unique and fun color combo to use with this stamp set, so I started browsing Pinterest. I have a whole board of images and color combos I find interesting, but it was THIS pin that really caught my eye.

I love how well the Soft Lilac and Soft Vanilla work with each other, with some Soft Granite and Navy to keep things elegant. I plan on trying this color combo again, but next time drawing more from the picture, and using an aqua-ish color, like Tide Pool or Mint.

I made this first card by simply stamping a wreath with the images from the stamp set, and them doubling up some of the flowers with another stamped image on some dimensional adhesive. For both my cards, I really didn't pre-plan the placement of the flowers - this set makes it so easy to make a beautiful card quickly!

I had so much fun with the color combo that I had to make another card...

I love this stamp and color combo so much!!

Now, for some more details on the catalog, release, and the prize!....
We've also introduced a fabulous new Color Layering stamp set with this release - the Color Layering Pineapple and coordinating Color Layering Pineapple Frame Cuts. There's also an ink cube pack for this set, Hero's Pineapple.
AND! We've combined the new ink packs with their Color Layering stamp set (and dies in some cases) into bundles - you will find links to the bundles in the store later today as well.
Prize: We will give away a Color Layering Bundle of their choice to FIVE lucky blog readers - selected from comments left across all blogs in the hop. Comments close Sunday June 19 at 11:59pm pt, we'll announce the winner the following week.
Here's the list of the hop participants - make sure to stop at each blog for tons of inspiration and more chances to win!
