Papertrey September Blog Hop Challenge

I was supposed to be working on Photoshop last night, but I saw a couple things on the Internet that sparked my cardmaking mojo, and I couldn't help spending an hour to just make this card.
Honestly, I don't know if this card helped me destress by just the process of making it, or stressed me out because I was thinking about the hour I was wasting on it the entire time! But whatever! It's done!

The first thing that triggered my mojo was (fittingly) this Tuesday Trigger photo - usually I kinda scroll through, but this photo just caught my eye...

...and before I knew it, I was making this card! The funny thing was I didn't realize it was a Tuesday Trigger until after I had made the card and was looking to link back to the original blog post.

For the Tuesday Trigger (of course), CASology Cue Card: Autumn, for CASual Fridays: Fall Colors and a Leaf, Ready-Made Embellishment Challenge in the Moxie Fab World, and the Papertrey Ink blog hop (I have a flower wreath of sorts)!

I'm actually posting this in computer lab - I'm working on a project for graphic design class, and while working on it, we have to really implement the design principles we've learned so far. Which is why I'm looking up at my card now and thinking "hm, when I got home, I'm switching those two green cabochons around...I need to shift a couple of the other flowers around as well", because there are some things going on in this card that are throwing some of those design principles out the door. ;)

I hope this post makes sense and doesn't contain too many errors, as I'm in a rush, and I gotta go back to working on my project - wish me luck (and prayers!)

Funky elephant

Hola! I'm just popping in quickly to enter a card in a couple challenges. ;)

This card is for the Stickers & Tape Challenge in the Moxie Fab World, and for the Simon Says Stamp STAMPtember blog hop (I used the Paper Smooches A Little Lovin' stamp set)

The story behind this card; usually when I'm making a project using washi tape, I go through a couple differant rolls and rip off various lengths to get the look I want. Instead of throwing this pretty washi tape away, I just stuck it on the side of my cardstock organizer (a little metal mabober).
So for this card, I really did use my scraps! As opposed to those cards where you could use scraps, but you end up using an uncut sheet and then make it look like it was a scrap. ;)

I used some enamel dots that I found on clearance at Michaels - .99 a pack!

...a new card, and a giveaway!

This card is for the Simon Says Stamp Embossing challenge and the CAS-ual Fridays Back to School challenge (how appropriate is this theme for me!?)

I used a lot of paper scraps here, and did a wee bit of heat embossing on the sentiment for a rather dramatic effect.

And then some pearls covered with nail polish. Just cuz I'm cool like that. ;)

Now, that giveaway - I don't know if I mentioned, but Dyane (from Precious Remembrance) and I decided it would be best for me to take a break from designing for Precious Remembrance as school projects and volleyball will pretty much be consuming my life for the next nine months. However, depending on how much extra time I have once volleyball ends, I may do a couple guest designing stints!
The upside of this for you peeps is that Dyane has graciously given me a "Thanks" stamp set to giveaway! Woot woot!

...hello there! It seems that the explained absences always turn out to be much shorter than the unexplained ones. ;)
This is an old card from around...2009, I think...? It was for the GCD Studios newsletter - challenge; piling on the layers. I didn't take this challenge so much as piling on tons of paper, but just piling on...stuff! :)

Btw, I posted about the Creating Keepsakes and Paper Crafts magazine announcement over at Commuter Crafter. I'm telling you because it's actually relevant to this blog, but also for scholastic reasons (no, seriously ;))

Beautiful Day

Stopping in today with a CARDS April '12 pub and another wee tidbit, but first, I just wanted to say thank you for all the sweet comments you left me - I am really terrible at returning the favor, but it is so encouraging that you don't mind. ;)
I still don't know what I need to do with this card. But I got tired of it, and wanted to get it off my super messy desk, so I just stuck it all together.

I was trying a different dying medium on this ribbon, going for a softer yet slightly crinkly look. The crinkles definitely didn't work, and though I like the softness, it's not quite what I was looking for.

I still love my Websters Pages Bloomers, but I haven't used them a whole lot since this card....

Anyways, for that wee tidbit - while I don't know how often I'll be posting on this blog, I've created another blog. Why, you ask?
For two reasons; one, I've had this blog for at least three years, and I kinda feel I've outgrown it. Like, I feel that there are unseen boundaries here that fit pre-college me, but now, just make me feel a little bit contained. This new blog will be a bit more me-ish, a bit more...real life I guess you could say.
Which brings me to reason two (which is more like an extension on reason one); I want to be able to blog a bit about college and cardmaking, which would just feel...strange to me, doing it on this blog. Also, since I'm going to be working a bit in graphic design this semester, I feel that it would fit perfectly into the new blog - kinda combining my school and hobby, as it were.
So officially, this will still be my 'cardmaking' blog, but I will (probably - no promises) be posting more on the second blog. That second blog is Commuter Crafter, because, well, I commute to school and I craft. ;)
