I had some free time yesterday (after getting a lot of things checked off the 'clean-up-my-life' list), and thought I'd make a card for this months Papertrey Ink hop, starring...
I don't think I've made a card with sequins yet, at least not recently, so this was a fun challenge.
I knew I wanted to string the sequins and wrap them around something, so once that part was done, the rest came together pretty quickly.
The sequins actually came from an old headband - I didn't have any in my stash, so that was the only place to turn.
I also wanted to add some subtle woodgrain embossing using my new PTI woodgrain embossing plate, but I forgot to purchase the pads with the rest of the order, so the plate is pretty useless to me right now...unless anyone out there knows how to make it work without the pads...? ;) Come on, I'm counting on you!
That's it for today, peeps!
God bless and thanks for stopping in!

ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet card! Love your use of seqins.
ReplyDeleteIf you have Spellbinder tan pads, they should work for the PTI plate.
Other than that...no ideas :(

This card is so beautiful! I love it! If I hadn't found sequins at the bottom of my daughter's craft box, her sequinned purse was my next call, LOL!
ReplyDeleteFor the impression plate, you could try layering some paper instead of the pad. I've done this before. I've done all sorts of weird things to try to get my impression plates to work. Now I have the proper mats. ;-)
This is so adorable, Clare.
ReplyDeleteThat headband was sacrificed for a noble cause. I just love this look. Did you need to do anything special to keep your sequins nicely spaced like that? I think I'm going to keep a copy of this pic in my Inspiration File. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI saw someone on a u tube video use the mat that you have for glue gun. I'm notmsure how it would work. I sure wouldn't push my machine further than it is comfortable with. They re too expensive to take a chance. ,
ReplyDeletewow! what a gorgeous, genius design. i love it!
ReplyDeleteSuch a great look having those gorgeous sequins all strung up lie that, and I totally applaud you for taking apart your headband to do it! Love the colour combo and the bird die cut too, really brings a really fab design together! I'm not at all surprised to see you highlighted in the Papertrey Newsletter - congrats!!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love your card! Such a great way to use sequins, so cute!
ReplyDeleteAs far as the impression plate, I've read that people are going to the hardware store and getting plumbing gaskets. It is a thin rubber, like the mats, and I've heard it's less expensive too. You may want to google around about people posting about this because I'm not sure if it comes in different thickness (don't want to ruin your machine) ; )
Gorgeous!! Congrats on your mention in the PTI newsletter!
ReplyDeleteSaw this in the PTI newsletter and just had to stop by and comment.. What a masterpiece this is!!! I've never seen a card like this :) Great job!
ReplyDeleteFun foam might work for your impression plate. Pretty card!
