Zippy-dee-do-dah

...day! :)

Something fun to share with you today, after a long (or what seems long!) blogging absence. ;)
Okay, so I loved the Papertrey Ink zipper dies idea! But as I have a tight budget, I decided to come with my own version.
So my first (and right now, only) zipper card...

Some twine to tie it off...

Stamped some arrows using the point of a house stamp. ;)

Peel away and...oila!

I was feeling pretty proud of myself, till I thought of an even more fun way.
There was something about actually tearing the strip off on the PTI die version that I really liked, and I figured out how to make a zipper card just like that, without buying the die! I already had some comments on this when I posted it on Flickr, so I videotaped that, as well as the fun ripping technique. ;)

I'll add here that the space in between the holes should be at least as small as the width of the holes, if not smaller. That way it rips easier. :)

Of course, I have to admit, I still want the coordinating stamp set, but I'm satisfied for now. :)

Thanks so much for stopping in today, and have a great week!

  1. As I am not as ingenious as you, I bought the dies. This is awesome! You should be really really proud!

  6. Well aren't you the cutest! Loved your video. I wondered the same thing you did- if using pinking shears would work. I'm glad you posted this. Loved your card!

  7. Thanks for the tutorial. I bet a rotary trimmer with a perforating blade option would work such as purple cows trimmer.

  8. Thanks for a great tutorial, Clare! It is great to come up with ideas to
stretch the budget. I bought a tool at Michaels to perforate paper. I got it for $1 on sale. I think it will work well for the zipper.
