Fun in the Sun - join us!

Hello!

Just a quick post reminding everybody of the SSC Fun in the Sun party!! We're having loads of fun already, and would love it if you would join!

And now I will explain my special call to my HA friends - not only are they incredibly talented, but I know some of you gals have the "Be Happy" clear stamp set which would be perfect for my challenge which is bug inspired, and you can view it HERE. There's an awesome RAK up for grabs!!

Here is my take;

My sewing machine is broken, and since I needed this card in a hurry, I sloppily stitched the bottoms of the brown cardstock.

Instructions: Cut out paper base and center. Stamp images onto dark brown paper, and then stamp bees and flower leaves onto patterned paper for paper piecing. Add bee images and leaves to dark brown center. Make rolled paper flower, and attach to top of flower stem. Stitch ends of brown paper. Adhere embellished brown paper to kraft base. Distress edges. Add nail polish to bee wings for shine.

Heya!

I have this weeks SSC challenge, my take, and some news for you. Challenge first...

So this weeks challenge is a technique challenge - distressing. Yes, we are going a little easy on you, but only because we're going to have five challenges this month (a little irregular). ;)

And here is my take...

I never thought I'd use this trim from Cosmo Crickets "Everafter" collection, but turns out, it makes a nice little 'roof'. ;) I also added gems and a scrolled sentiment to the tag from K&Company's Classic tag book. Seriously, is this design beautiful or what? I wish I could say I stamped the tag, but sadly, no. Though it is from the K&Company tag book, I recognize it as a Jacqueline Savage Mcfee silhouette design - beautiful! And because of it's 'natural' beauty, I just enhanced it a little with the gems.

The news? I am a product tester for GCD Studios! Very excited, and I can't wait to work with their products! See THIS post.

Thinking Simple

 Good afternoon!

In an attempt to get my mojo back, I went back to ULTRA simple...I mean, this sketch is probably one of the most used ones. Though I guess that doesn't mean I can't still have fun with it. ;)

This was made for the Moxie Fab floss challenge (yes, another entry because this challenge is so fun;)), and this weeks Simply Scrapping weekly card challenge, which you can view HERE. You will be entered into the monthly drawing, AND there is RAK for this week. So how about popping on over there and having a go? ;)

Looking at the color chart at first, I was like 'Oh no! How am I going to make a card off these colors?!' Well, the light bulb flicked on when I saw this fun DCWV (at least, that's what I'm assuming it is; I got it as part of the DT goodies, and it doesn't have a label on the back) paper (in the center of the card). I used a plain ol' grocery bag instead of kraft (I bet that shows you what kind of budget I have;)), and just layered the paper.  Easy peasy. ;)

Nutty Birthday

Hey!

I sure hope I find my mojo soon, because I'm getting desperate - I keep making cards, but they're not turning out right. :(

Inside: have a perfectly nutty birthday

I was going against my inner instincts, doing something that didn't coordinate perfectly, and this is what I end up with. Uck. Last time I go against my instincts. I am happy I got to use this HA stamp again - it goes perfectly with the squirrel, even if the squirrel and sentiment don't go with the rest of the card.

This is for the Simply Scrapping Crafts challenge, as well as the Embellish challenge. I'm almost too ashamed to put my link in with all those other fabulous entries. :( Major downer.

Quickie post, for this weeks Simply Scrapping Crafts Card challenge - the challenge is to make a card inspired by this photo...

I used THESE awesome scissors, and THESE flowers. Though the flowers were not exactly as I thought they'd be, they still worked for this card...

 

The blue in this photo is truer to the real shade of the paper than the first

This card is very simple; just cut out some DWCV "Sweets" paper and a piece of cardstock with my Nesties, stamped the sentiment, and attached the embellies...simple elegance. I was inspired by the beautiful blue of the wall, and all the lovely floral patterns they have going on.

On another happy note, I finally figured out how to add my e-mail to my blog without blatantly displaying it. Yay! Also, this is my 102nd (yay, I'm in the 100's!) blog post, so I will send one random commenter some scrappin' love. ;)

Thinking of You

Hello there!

A sweet and simple card today, for this weeks Simply Scrapping Crafts Technique challenge.

 

All I did for the flower was stamp a Martha Stewart flower image onto tissue paper (one in dark pink, the others in light pink; just enough color so that I could cut along the line without the color showing up), cut around, and inserted a brad through the middle. Easy, right?

One last thing; Simply Scrapping Crafts is holding a sketch contest: use this sketch for either a card or LO (it might be a little tougher for the card gals, but I know we can do it!)....

And you have the chance to win a variety to of Making Memories Flutter line - it just came out at CHA! What's not to like about that?

Hello...

Excuse the pathetic greeting - I am so, so, so sore! :( You know that feeling when you don't have a sore throat/you aren't puking/etc, but the rest of your body just feels sick? That's what I'm going through right now, and I hating every bit of it. But enough with my complaining - I finally have a card to share with you. :)

Made this awhile back for Simply Scrapping Crafts sketch challenge; you can play along by going here.

This card is rather easy to figure out - quick and simple which would work if your mass producing them (for school). Also wouldn't be too complicated for kids 7 & up to be making (I know this from experiance with my 7 yr. old brother)

This is the first card I've made using the BG "Blush" patterned papers that I got back in December. After looking through them, I found them a little dark for me - nothing that white cardstock can't solve!

If you live to be a hundred...

Hello everyone!

Simply Scrapping Crafts challenge today is...technique; paper piercing. Here is a handy link, and this is what it basically looks like...

Can you believe I hadn't even heard of this until just about two months ago? Crazy, I tell ya. Anyways, it's really fun...and here is the result...

 

Though this image is adorable, it took me the longest time to figure out how to use it...I usually like to keep my cards generally uncluttered (otherwise they look like big blobs), and I wasn't sure how to do it with this stamp. I (obviously) figured out how to manage it, but it sure was a pain. ;)

The background of the card came is text from the actually Winnie-the-Pooh story...I think it's the first chapter. I just printed it out on the back of the only cream colored paper I had; K&Company wedding paper. Elegant on one side, a whimsical story on the other. ;)

Now, for an adorable image I found while looking for a text background for the card; isn't this image just the cutest thing?

B is for Birthday Girl

Hiya!

Sorry for the big break - I had been working on a bunch of DT cards over break, and now that I got them finished for the month, my mojo just gave on me! But since today, the first challenge of the year for Simply Scrapping Crafts has been posted in the community, I can show you my card...which I unfortunately took a pretty bad pic of - way to start the year off with a nasty photo, eh? ;)

I know the hideousness (of the photo, not card) might burn your eyes right out of their sockets, but here it is in all its glory;

for those who like extra thing-a-ma-bobs in the picture...

We don't have the challenge up for the blog yet - working on that!

Saw this after I got my Nesties and knew EXACTLY what I wanted to. Unfortunately, the photo itself didn't turn out like I wanted. But don't worry; for the next upcoming challenges, I have MUCH better photos. ;)

And also one little tidbit I want to share with you; we're gonna be announcing a DT search soon, so stick around to hear more!

Back to the card - pretty simple really. Just use the Nestabilities to cut out the paper, tie a bow, cut out the "b", print the sentiment (from Kevin&Amanda), and voila!

Lookin' forward to an exciting day tomorrow - seeing friends I haven't seen in forever! Though I won't be showing you any cards tomorrow (unless I somehow miraculously regain my mojo overnight), I might be able to squeeze in a few shots of how I take my photos. Yeah, today's pictures may not inspire you, but seriously, you can get way better shots than these...most of the time. So, feel free to hang around if you're interested. ;)
