Digital Scenery // Throwback Thursday

This post is from April 2013, and fits this chilly weather pretty well.

So, this card didn't exactly turn out how I envisioned, but, I think the little fox is cute enough to make up for that. ;)

What I was going for was a really cozy look of a fox all snuggled in his winter den, but apparently it just looks like the fox is sitting in a giant blob.

The font mash is kinda fun - a Hero Arts and Waltzingmouse hybrid.

And lots of little leaves, so that fox has a nice bed to sleep on. ;)

This card was a frustrating one to make and photograph.
Ah well, I've put my behind in the past.

Er, I've put my past behind me. ;)

I played along with the Altenew From Places Abroad challenge photo as inspiration, so I started out by stamping a TON of Vintage Roses flowers in reds and blues. Then I cut out the flowers (which was a nice, mindless thing to do - and I do love being mindless) and started arranging them. Which is where all the trouble started.

I had the darndest time trying to make the colors work without being overwhelming, and then layering them all together. I ended up ditching the reds because they looked a little too dramatic with the blue, which made layering the flowers a lot easier but still a bit of a challenge.

I finally managed to get everything to work semi-cohesively, after a few nights struggle with the problem. I thought it'd be fun to show you a bit of the "evolution" of the card. ;)

Of course, there is still the problem of the gold embossing not matching the gold glitter leaves, but at this point, I am just happy to call it a day. Or a card. Whatever.

Lawn Fawn // Hello Baby

Another scrappy card! I tell ya, I'm on a roll! Today's card uses some leftover die cut flowers from THIS card.

I'm playing along in the Simon Says Stamp and Lawn Fawn Flickr Co-challenge that my sweet friend Barb is co-administrating. Just use some kraft paper/ink and Lawn Fawn and/or Simon Says Stamp product!

I used the Lawn Fawn Hello Baby (the images are SO cute!) and Simon Says Stamp Inside and Out Sayings (one of my favorite sentiment stamps sets) sets for my card, as well as the SSS Mini Hearts die...

Momma bunny accidentally got some blush on her nose, so pay no heed to that. ;)

Another card using up some scraps. The colored doll is at least a couple years old, and I have several other versions still sitting in the scrap bin. I know I made a card with whatever version I settled on, years ago, but I can't remember.

Tri-fold cards are tricky to photograph. ;) The kraft border wasn't done by myself - I got a large box of David Tutera envelopes and card bases on sale at Joann's a year or to ago, and the pretty edge is just from one of those kraft card bases.

Throwback Tuesday #6

A fun, happy card for today's post!

The deets: every Tuesday, I will post a card that has been sitting in the draft closet too long. At the end of each month, I will randomly select a winner from all the valid challenge entries!

The challenge: link up an old papercraft related blog post, card photo, or post one of your old drafts/pictures! An additional entry will be given to those who comment on the Throwback Tuesday posts for that month.
The prize: a big ol' box stuffed with scrapbooking goodies!

My previous thoughts:

The inside...

That sentiment from an old Sugarloaf set (part of my first stamp set kit!) goes so well with this fun cuckoo set from Hero Arts.
The card front...

I accidentally mixed some blue with a gold died ribbon, to get this almost puke green seam binding. Didn't want to waste it though, so I stuck it on this card.

I'm so obsessed with this cuckoo set...love those clocks. :)

The fix: the ribbon! Again! Note to self - if you have messed up ribbon, do NOT use it! The only other thing that stands out to me is the lack of color in the main stamped panel. I think I a little bit of coloring in the image, and maybe a brighter pearl would've helped. But, I do give myself a pat on the back for the inside sentiment - I don't do that nearly enough, and it really spices up cards.

Ladies and gents, I present to you, Throwback Tuesday #2!

I try to make cards with subjects I would actually use...a welcome or home card is not something I, as a college student, would really use. However, the sentiment absolutely applies to me - I am such a homebody. ;)
Anyways, as to analyzing the card - first off, you can't tell the in the photo, but this card was very loosely adhered together as I was running out of adhesive at that time. Plus, the adhesive was rather crummy quality (I didn't know it at the time), resulting the in the card falling apart shortly after. If there's one pet peeve I have  when it comes to cardmaking, it's cards that fall apart! So, that set aside, I have to say, the only thing I would change about the card is round the corners of the card to soften it up a bit.
While this card is definitely not something I would be proud of making at this stage, I really don't see a lot technically wrong with it...or maybe it's just me being so out of the cardmaking loop at this point, that I'm blind to all errors. ;)

Project Thursday {Sunshine}

When I first saw the new Thanks stamp set, I knew right away I wanted to make a sunny card with the adorable "sunshine" sentiment. I just adore that font!
A smiley sun and a few die cut clouds later, I came up with this bright little number...

I told you that font was adorable!

On the fifth day...

...a card using my two fave colors outside of papercrafting - blue and green.

I felt like I was in this "pink and blue" color phase, so I made myself work with my two favorite colors outside of papercrafting - pink and blue is definitely my fave for making cards. :)

And some stitches, just because I felt like it. ;)

Squeal!

For this weeks PS SPARKS challenge

 and the Moxie Fab World Stamp It! Birthday challenge...

Houndsooth, cupcake, banner, colors (peanut, icing, wrapper and banner colors) - yup, I was really inspired by this photo. :)

The tape here is actually from a huge roll of masking tape I got awhile back - cut down to strips, with the edges ripped off, it's perfect (cheap!) imitation washi tape!

I actually don't have a cupcake stamp - I used the tiny cloud (?) stamp from Party Posse, stamped that (after masking the hamsters arms), and used a black Memento marker to draw the liner. Speaking of Memento markers, I got eight of them for a buck each on clearance - I'm not really a marker person, but I've been having so much fun with these! :)

Finally, one last thing - didja notice that one of my cards is featured on the Moxie Fab World Stamp It! Birthday challenge blog post?

As the little hammie up there would say, 'squeal!'! So excited to see my card there, even though my last name is spelled wrong (sometimes we just tell people to write 'pizza' when they have a hard time getting our last name ;)).

Another sleepy post for me. ;) I just realized that we only have a couple more days till Christmas, so I thought I'd better start posting the Christmas cards I made before they're out of season.
Card is for the Lily Pad Cards button challenge - only one button, but I do think it is lovely....:)

A nice big bow with grograin - I used to be afraid of using it because of the bulk, but it seems to me now the majority of my cards are hand delivered, or mailed inside a box with other items, so it doesn't matter to me anymore. 

A bit 'o' stitching - it took me quite awhile to decide if I wanted to to, and which papers would be sewn - all these little details can drive me crazy! Also using some very old DCWV flocked snowflake stickers. 

And what proper Victorian girl would feel properly dressed without lots of shiny new 'buttons'? ;) 

Love the 'Autumn Press' paper pad by Studio Calico - I saw the pinks and blues in it, and had to have it. Turns out, the papers not only work well with fall themed projects, but Christmas projects as well - the red polka dot paper I used was perfect for this festive occasion!

Anywhos, thanks for the sweet comments - as I'm sure you can relate to, it's getting busier around here with all the sibs coming in, but I'm going to try to take some time tomorrow to check out your latest lovely creations. :)

Just popping in to share a card I made for a friends family that kindly let me stay overnight before a volleyball tournament.
Using an old-ish but new to me set by Papertrey Ink - In Bloom, and the coordinating dies - addicted to those. ;)

Used the Tag It's #2 with Versamark to create this background, which qualifies it for the PTI challenge.

I had to emboss everything (and rather messily did so, I must admit) because my Staz-on was too low to use - luckily I found some refill yesterday at the local craft store. :)

....'long' time, no 'see', right? This past week or two has been one of those weeks where you just don't feel up to very much, crafty or non crafty wise, and so I haven't felt like blogging. However, I got the jolt I needed yesterday when three yummy packages arrived - one of them from Hero Arts! :)

Anyways, here is a card made for this weeks SSC challenge - sorry I posted late! Like I said, just one of those weeks! The challenge is clean and simple, and last weeks was distressing, so two super easy challenges - I'd love to see you play!

I love this color combo, though my sister and mom have some problems with that ribbon. However, the ribbon is my favorite part, so I'm not taking it off. :P

Oh, and the heart? It's got some yummy glossy accents on it - it's all in the details. ;)

Another banner card

....even though I said before I wasn't into the whole banner thing. Turns out, I kinda like it now, though I haven't done it too much. :)

This card was made for this weeks Simply Scrapping Crafts challenge - you gals are really rocking the challenge so far! I smile when I see those fabby entries! For those who haven't jumped in yet, there's a great prize up for grabs - check it out HERE.

Though it's impossible to see in the photo (and hard IRL), I debossed the banners with GCD Studios Chip Art tools.
And I think it's kinda funny how my second banner card is so similar to my first - primary colors, simple layout, kraft & white, same stamp set, more string - well, you get the idea. ;)

Just a quickie post - my sister kinda dropped a bomb on me a couple days ago when she asked me to make 50 program fans for the wedding, which is this Saturday, so I'm rather short on time.

Long time, no blogging! ;)

I enjoyed my break, and made some nice little pretties in the process - I'll show you them sometime, once I get caught up in the 73 drafts I have gathering dust in Blogger right now. It's ridonkuluos how much I have to share with you!

This post was quite an old draft - all the way from August, when CARDS asked me to be their featured designer for April '11 (a BIG thanks to CARDS!)
I was expecting lots of new CHA products and stamps to come in so I could make cards with new product for the issue, but wouldn't you know it, nothing arrived until the day after I submitted my cards. :P haha

I had to stamp onto the reverse of some patterned paper I had because I was all out of quality white cardstock - this substitute works really well, unless you need white cardstock for a base...than, not often.

Anyways, I have a lot to catch up on - hope to stop by all my friends blogs as soon as I can find the time.

Bad blogger here again! I'll forewarn you that it's only going to get worse as Christmas approaches - can't believe it's only 25 days!

But, now that that's said and done, here is a thank you post, albeit a couple days late.

 

Instructions: Trim and score card base. Cut out patterned papers, and adhere together, Sew yellow paper to blue paper. Stamp image onto blue paper, and paper piece. Use gel pen for stars. Tie bow around patterned papers, top with button, and adhere to base. Stamp sentiment, cut out and adhere to base.

I have some sweet news today - Vinnie Pearce is back, and has a brand new digi kit up for sale at 2Peas! It's called Journey Back, and it is an absolutely gorgeous collection - one of my favorites! And some more sweet news is that it's on sale!
I nearly went crazy when I found out the printer was out of ink after I downloaded this new kit! So now that we finally have color ink, the first card I made with the kit...

I used her elements - I enlarged those adorable little stamps. I knew I would be using them as soon as I saw them, so be prepared to see the other ones on my blog soon. ;)

Instructions: Trim card base and patterned papers. Adhere patterned papers to base, distressing edges with sand paper (my substitute for white ink) and scissors. Adhere doily to papers, and tie bow around base, adding a half pearl to the center of the bow. Print image, cut out, distress with ink, and add to card base using foam squares for dimension. Stamp sentiment, cut out, distress with ink, sandpaper and scissors , and that adhere to clip. Slip clip onto image. 

Isn't it "tweet"? ;)

Polka dot elephant

Hi there!

I won't be blogging for a few short days as I'm heading on over to a camp, so I thought I'd quickly share this card I made a couple weeks ago...

Is it just me or do polka dots and elephants seem to go really well together? Then again, polka dots look nice with pretty much any animal image. ;)

Instructions: Trim and score card base, round edges. Stamp sentiment onto coral paper, and than stamp image twice onto green polka dot paper. Cut out and paper piece image, tie bow around trunk, than adhere to white paper. Adhere white paper to blue polka dot paper, and distress edges of white and patterned paper. Adhere heart sticker on white paper using a foam square. Adhere stamped sentiment paper onto base, and tie knot with ribbon around base. Add embellished center rectangle to base using foam squares. Distress edges of card base.
