Paper Smooches // Throwback Thursday

Today's Throwback Thursday (a way for me to clean out my 100+ drafts....whew, this is gonna take awhile...) is circa June 2012.
My thoughts on the card from three years ago:

I wanted to make a boy themed card using the Paper Smooches turtle image.

I'm not quite sure if I like it or not, but I decided to share it anyways. ;)

To create the notebook edge without a notebook edge punch, I simply punched holes, and cut slits with a scissors. Ripping the edges up a bit helps add to the look. ;)

Embossed sentiment to make it pop out from the patterned paper...

Avery Elle // Weather It

Popping in with a card for AEiheartU challenge #22...

...and my take below.

On my first FOUR attempts of this card, I tried using watercolor and masking to create the stripes, but even with drying in between, the colors would somehow manage to run into each other at random spots. I was getting pretty frustrated, thinking "how ELSE am I supposed to get these colors without resorting to cardstock?!" when I immediately thought of Laura Bassen and all her fabulous blending cards. 

That did the trick, and I pulled out some of my new mini Tim Holtz inks - guys, blending is SO FUN. I think I'm obsessed - I'm trying to find more ways to use it. Before, I was limited by my ink color options and preference for watercoloring, but I've seen the light! Dang, I love this technique. 

I tried misting the raindrop image from the Avery Elle Weather It set, and stamping on the stripes for some resist, but it just didn't work with the technique or cardstock. Not sure which. Either way, it made things a little blotchy, but I was too lazy busy to patch up.

WPlus9 // Fresh Cut Florals

Hello lovelies! Just popping in real quick with a simple card for WPlus9's Throwback Thursday #2 challenge and the Simon Says Stamp Spring Pinterest Inspiration challenge.

Just some simple stamping with the WPlus9 Fresh Cut Florals stamp and a sentiment by Papertrey Ink. I added a very slight blue patch of watercolor in the center, just for kicks.

Yesterday morning I looked out my window to see big, fluffy white snowflakes dusting our driveway, but thank goodness, it's warmed up (again) and we have rain.

Hero Arts // Butterfly Framelits

Ah, now that I've posted a manly card, I can turn back to my natural inclinations...

Dang, this card was hard to photograph.
I used my Tim Holzt Distress Ink markers to selectively color the stamp. The image was etched in rubber, which works well with the markers. Clear stamps? Not so much.

But now let me pose you a question;
Let's be real here, peeps - do you like it when I link products, using something like Inlinkz? Or is it a feature that just takes up space?
PLEASE TELL ME.

I used the My Favorite Things Feathers and Arrows die set - I really haven't used this cool die set as much as I should have.
