An oldy

So I recently created a ton of new draft posts (I'm finally getting all my card pictures into posts), and realized that I now have a whoppin' 220 drafts.
And that's ridiculous.
I'd half to say about half are super old cards, or cards I've posted on Flick/some other photo site, and just never got around to blogging.

This post is about a year and half old.

Opening....

The card set...

All of the flowers are covered in glitter, and speckled with a few rhinestones.

Pencils (because I couldn't find any coordinating pens lol ;))....

The tiny little stamp I used to decorate these pencils is pretty much the reason why I got THIS stamp set...love it

The complete kit (I was too lazy to take pics of the decorate envelopes, but you can get a peek here)

Ta-da! Whew, good things that's over with!

Thanks for stopping in and God bless!

Papertrey June Blog Hop Challenge

Popping in today for this months Papertrey Ink blog hop - this month's focus is gold...

This new trend is something that I've tried my hand at several times, but each time, haven't been quite satisfied. Today's card is no different, but I'm going to keep at it till I think I can nail it! ;)

You wouldn't believe how long it took me to decide on what gems I wanted to use here - white pearls, pink, orange, or purple sequins - it was ridiculous. It definitely took up more time than putting the rest of the card together, and that includes the stamping, embossing, watercoloring, and adhering stuff. Even now, I'm second-guessing myself, and wanting to add some more black gems.

I used THIS technique with Twinkling H2O's, but in a slightly messier way, for the background. This was my inspiration for the gold and watercolor background...

That's all for today, folks! Thanks for stopping in and God bless!

Vintage Trio

I hadn't played along in a Tuesday Trigger for awhile, so I figured I would give the Vintage Vagabond a go, despite it being very out of my comfort zone (ETA: I just realized I missed the deadline - oops!)
Also for Word Art Wednesday (Anything Goes).

...and then THIS pin also helped me sketch-wise.

Used some little odds and ends I've been saving up; an old necklace pendant and a vintage metal button.

A little sparkle added using some glitter and a glue pad.

Thanks so much for stopping in and God bless!

Life is Sweet

Quickly made this card for the Papertrey Ink Make It Monday #121 - I'll probably explore this more later, but I just wanted to slide this one under the deadline. ;)
Also for the Word Art Wednesday Anything Goes...

I hadn't used the popular flowers from the Hero Arts Pattern Hearts and Flowers set, so decided to pull them out for this one. And then, I just wanted to add sequins because it seems everyone else is - hey, there is such a thing as positive peer pressure! ;)

Peacing out - thanks for stopping and God bless!

Simply the Best

Just popping in with a quick, fun set I made with a new stamp set...

The little additional sentiment could be seen as tacky for some cards, but for these quirky cards, I think it goes perfectly with the old rub-ons.
Speaking of the rub-ons, they're super old American Crafts rub-ons that I pulled out for the Sweet Stamp Shop Use What You Have #5 challenge...

and then topped with some old Prima pearls as well...

And my desk when I was finished...

I had been in a cardmaking frenzy that day, so only a small part of it was actually due to this pair. ;)

Thanks for stopping in!

"Trendy Wendy"

I noticed that my one card published in the July/August issue of Paper Crafts magazine was featured over at Moxie Fab World today - yay! Here's the pic...

I thought I may as well post the video I made a couple months ago (right before I submitted it), showing how I made the background.  I say 'um' a ridiculous amount of times, my voice sound kinda stuffed up, I didn't edit out the parts where I'm drying the cardstock, and my directions are ALL over the place, but, whatevs. Hopefully you'll get the gist of how to make the background  despite my mindless jabbering. ;)

That's it for me today - have an awesome day and God bless!

Project Thursday {sequin bird}

First off, I have to apologize for the poor pictures - my camera simply cannot pick up black, apparently!

Moving on...
I used the Positive Thoughts and Little One stamp sets in this card, in a very simple way, but bold way.

This second picture shows the brightness of the bird a bit better...

I used the chic chevron pattern from the Little One stamp set to make a subtle 'bird tracks' background.

What do you think?

Thanks so much for stopping in with me today and have an awesome day!

Weddingy thanks

...well, at the very least, it's a unique post title. ;)

This card is for Make It Monday #119 (flagged borders) and CAS-ual Fridays (banners)...

I know it looks super wedding-gy, but I didn't have a nice wedding-gy sentiment to match, so a thank you card it was! Those little golden dots were originally white, but I covered 'em in some pretty gold nail polish, and oila! Instant match!
Oh, and I thought it be kinda neat to start adding pictures of what my desk looked like at the end of a card, so, starting that off...

This is actually super clean for me, but it was just after I had made a video of my craft corner, and thus had everything neat looking. ;)

Thanks for stopping in and God bless!

Winner winner

...the winner for May's Throwback Tuesday's is..

Cindy C.!
Congrats, Cindy! E-mail, and we'll talk about the deets concerning your prize. ;)

If you didn't notice from the lack of a post last Tuesday, I'm not doing the Throwback Tuesday's this month. Maybe next month, but I've got a bit much on my plate right now, plus I'm trying to think of a way of doing it and getting a wee bit more participation. ;)

Anyways, today's card...
Sympathy cards are cards that I, as a young adult, have thankfully not been required to make often. However, my mom needs them occasionally, and this was a fast, simply way to do it.
This card takes part in the Simon Says Stamp Vintage challenge ('S')...

I had the sentiment cut out, and wasn't quite sure where to go from there, when I saw the bird die from the Happy Trails PTI set. I hadn't used it before this, so I was pleased how well it fit....

Easy peasy, nice and squeezy. ;)
Oh, and I realize most of the peeps reading this are cardmakers, but I thought I'd let you know I added some cards to the Etsy shop recently. ;)

Thanks for stopping in and God bless!

Celebrate

...just for fun!
This card was published way back in the CARDS September '12 issue...

Just an little ditty on stuff I've been up to lately:

I'm learning how to play the guitar! It's so fun, and perfect to sing along with (which I love to do)! A friend gave me a couple lessons over last semester, and now that she's gone for the summer, I'm getting 'official' lessons from a local music teacher. With my younger sister at the piano, my older sister on the ukulele and harmonica, older brother on the banjo, and younger brother on the bagpipes, we're gonna have ourselves a regular ol' band! That is, once we all get practiced enough - we're all rather late to this music thing. ;)

Alas, I still have no job. I even tried some craft stores, but nope, nothin' doing. :(

I totally reorganized my craft room, and I will have a 'tour' video up soon!

Spent a whole week up in Madison, WI with a couple brothers, a friend and one of my sister's - SO. FUN. Met a lot of people who were amazing examples of Christ-centered lives, had an impromptu 'jam' session, and basically did a bunch of random things. ;)

I hope you've been enjoying this summer as much as I have been so far!
